Try out iDeb Beta, .deb making made simple
30th July, 2010 - 10:43PM
iDeb is the latest way in making .deb files without SHH, anywhere, anytime.
1. Create a .zip file with All the directories and files required.
2. Upload your .zip to iDeb
3. If you have not included a control file, iDeb will prompt you to create a control file by entering the most basic of values.
4. iDeb will begin to pack itself up and give you 2 options:
-> a: Download it straight to your PC for personal use, or send it to Cydia Later
-> b: Send it straight to your Cydia Repo with one click (login Required).
It can't get any easier than that!
Of course, this is still in beta, so any bugs or issues, please let me know!

If I wanted to make a deb that installs sources, would I put the sourceEX.list into this location?
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/
once inserted, would it be as a go to bind as zip and convert to .deb?

I'm making something that will save sources! It should be online in a few weeks.

I waited for the upload of my application, and after it finally done it, I was stuck on the page 'Upload Complete' and I didn't know where to navigate next. I didn't create a control file for it as I was hoping to use the wizard. But again, nothing came up and I ended up closing the window. :(
Any idea of what I am doing wrong? Because iDeb is the application converter I was looking for! Pictures speak a thousand words, but music speaks a million.

@CharlieMcShane: I don't know. For the one time it actually worked for me, it just brought it up automatically. Now I just get stuck on the "Connecting.." screen. :-(

Cheers Brbortscheller, I have been waiting for days to get replies.
I have tested out all the mainstream Web Browsers with javascript enabled on both Windows 7 and Windows Vista to see what result I get with iDeb.
It appears that Internet Explorer isn't the best Web Browser to use when uploading a .zip package, you only get a 'Connecting' screen, even though the package is uploading and finishes, you still get that same message. This is because IE 8 is poor with being compatible will many different types of web code.
Opera, Firefox, Safari and Chrome do get the 'Connecting' screen while uploading and a 'Upload Complete' after the upload is finished, but get stuck on the page. So this means the browser can potentially do it.
I have spoken to Admin via YouTube and eMail, and send him over the packages that I wish to create as a .deb package and upload. It appears that iDeb and the Uploader are not fully compatible with all sources of packages. Themes, Ringtones and other small features that are roughly under 10MB work perfectly, while applications like mine; a fully blown game with DLC contents, stuggle to push into the online program.
Overall I would suggest trying to upload it in different browsers (With JavaScript enabled) and try to cut down on the size to 10MB is you can; even though Admin said it could accept up to 50MB a go.
I hoped I helped and get back to me with your results asap, cheers
